In the Baja 500, Nikal Motorsports finishes 4th out of 27 cars. The
Malcolm Drilling 5/1600 was a contender for the win all day. Halfway
through the race, we started to have brake problems, and then later in
the day, the steering started to bind up when turning left. We chose
not to try to make repairs. We were worried that we would be down
too long and the lead pack would pull away and we would not be able to
catch them. We were never out of the top 4 cars all day, even with
the problems we had.

The
Malcolm Drilling 5/1600 draws a 4th place starting position out of 16
pre-entered cars for the legendary Score Baja 500. Race day we expect
to see about twenty 5/1600 cars entered in the race. The electronic
drawing was held at Score International's headquarters over the weekend.
The whole Nikal Motorsports team has been busy prepping the Malcolm Drilling
car and making several new changes to the car for the grueling 500 mile
race, which is expected to take over 13 hours to complete. The month
of May is full as we start testing the car on the 10th and then we prerun
the course on the 17th and the 18th and our final weekend will be spent
loading equipment, pit crew meetings, and tying up any loose ends.
Nikal Motorsports also has some big news we hope to be announcing in the
next week or two. If you have any questions about the Malcolm Drilling
car or the Nikal Motorsports team you can ask them on our contacts page.
We will be happy to answer them for you. Stay Tuned!

Nikal
Motorsports' commitment to never quitting prevails as they had a tough
day at the races. Race day started with us taking the front starting
spot. Early in the race we were playing catch up as some cars passed
us, and Jason and John got a rear flat tire. Once Jason got the
car to Todd and Garry, they were in fourth place. Todd only got
5 miles when a c.v. joint broke and the broke an axle in the process.
But this team never quits and they got a spare axle and c.v. joint together
and went out on the course to repair it. Once repaired, Todd and
Garry continued but they were in 15th place. By the end of the day
they were able to work their way up to 11th place and that's where they
finished. Not what they wanted but this team's determination got
them to the finish. Not only are we looking to win, but we also
want to finish every mile of all races, as very few teams are capable
of doing so. Only two teams in the whole Score series were able
to do this last year.

The race format is different from all other races as this is a two-day
event, you race on Saturday and on Sunday. Score then adds up both
